Microstructure and Wear Properties of IN718/WC Composite Coating Fabricated by Ultrasonic Vibration-Assisted Laser Cladding

Laser cladding coating with wolfram carbide (WC) as enhanced particles can improve the performance of nickel-based materials. However, there still exists several problems, such serious element segregation and unequal distribution reinforcement phase. In order to mechanical properties further, IN718/WC coatings were prepared by ultrasonic vibration-assisted laser cladding. The effects vibration on ceramic distribution, microstructure, wear systematically studied. results show that promote uniform WC without changing phase composition coating. cavitation acoustic flow induced interrupt growth columnar dendrites refine grains. addition, microhardness is 15.6% 475 HV0.2. average coefficient friction (COF) 0.452, which 17.5% lower than unassisted volume decreased significantly, characteristics change from severe adhesive slight coexistence abrasive wear.
